The Michael Lowenthal Episode

(396 downloads)

Download this episode (32 min)
Michael Lowenthal ("Avoidance," "The Same Embrace") has penned a new historical novel, "Charity Girl," which explores a little-known American atrocity: the internment of young girls with venereal diseases during World War I. Prince catches up with Michael in his swanky hotel room, and, despite the weight of the book’s subject matter, they manage to mock Susan Sontag fanatics, complain about Wikipedia, and speculate about the Amish.

Download this episode (31 min)
Prince attempts to penetrate acclaimed novelist Noel Alumit ("Talking to the Moon," "Letters to Montgomery Clift") and uncovers the truth about crime writer James Ellroy ("The Black Dahlia," "LA Confidential"), about Filipino curses, and about hoity-toity book readings. Prince also finds discomfort in his mother's use of hip-hop slang and avoids licking envelopes.
